Workshop press release

DENVER, CO -- Colorado Community Brownfields Workshop to be held Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

The Voluntary Cleanup Advisory Board (vcab-denver.org) will host a free workshop to share community skills for engaging with brownfields redevelopment on Sept. 22, 2007 from 9 am to 3 pm at 2980 Curtis Street, Denver.

Go to cocobrownfields.org for more information including registration and agenda, or leave a message at 720-837-5446.

Attendees will learn how and why communities should participate in the brownfields cleanup and redevelopment process. "Brownfields" are sites where pollution from past uses is an obstacle to new development. Many tools, including the Colorado Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCUP) and the EPA Brownfields Program, exist to help developers overcome these obstacles and create cleaner, revitalized sites, however communities are often left out of the process.

Attendance is free and open to all Coloradans, but pre-registration is requested. Light meal, childcare and translation provided (please indicate your needs when registering).

The Voluntary Cleanup Advisory Board ("VCAB") is a Denver-based community group formed to oversee the cleanup of the former Gates Rubber Plant and to advocate for community involvement in brownfields redevelopment. The Colorado Community Brownfields Workshop is co-sponsored by:
